My name ist Liriam Sponholz. I'm a media and communication scientist. I am currently working as a researcher at the German Centre for Integration and Migration Research (DeZIM-Institut) in Berlin, where I coordinate the research project RaMi – “From the margins to the centre: right-wing populist interpretations of (radical) Islam as a societal challenge in Europe and beyond”.
Previously I worked as an assistant professor at the Ludwig-Maximilian-University in Munich, was Senior Postdoc in Vienna at the Institute for Comparative Media and Communication Studies of the Austrian Academy of Sciences and Alpen Adria University, held a postdoctoral position at the University of Erfurt in Germany and was guest professor at the Federal University of Santa Catarina in Brazil and at the Complutense University of Madrid in Spain.
I am the author of Hate Speech in the Mainstream Media (Hate Speech in den Massenmedien, Springer Verlag, 2018), and numerous journal articles and book chapters.
My research interests include hate speech, media conflicts and journalistic objectivity.
